Key consideration in the development of the VQ40 Super Sport was the wide range of different clients that Vanquish serves. The boat is therefore exceptionally multifunctional and can be equipped with a wide selection of engines.
Choices for the outboard version with the Mercury Verado range from twin 225 hp (speed of 35 knots) to triple 350 hp (51 knots) and the Veloce model with triple 400 hp (54+ knots). Regardless of which installation owners choose, they’re certain to feel unparalleled power once they take their place in the co-pilot seats. The standard inboard propulsion setup consists of twin 320 hp Volvo D4 diesels with DPI drives and a maximum speed of 40 knots. Clients can also opt for twin 440 hp Volvo D6 engines to increase their top speed to 46 knots.
The VQ40 will be built in high-quality composite, leveraging on our experience with this material on the VQ16. Building the new yacht in composite rather than aluminium will make the VQ40 a more accessible starting model worldwide. It also means we can create more boats in a faster timeframe to meet the demand from Vanquish fans and boost the global visibility of our brand.
It took a great deal of time, effort and focus to blend all the characteristics that make Vanquish unique into the new VQ40. Our goal was to create a true driver’s boat for those who love cars and have a need for power.
The stepped hull was designed by the award-winning naval architects at Bakewell-White Yacht Design, specialists in high-performance hulls from New Zealand. Their work on the VQ40 has helped ensure an unrivalled acceleration and a boat that excels in terms of wave riding skills and manoeuvrability. The rest of the exceptionally cool exterior design is from the drawing boards of Guido de Groot. Our latest partnership with this leading Dutch designer has ensured that the boat is clearly recognised as a true Vanquish from afar – an aspect that is naturally very important to the owners.
Feel the power
Another key consideration in the development of the VQ40 was the wide range of different clients we serve. The boat is very multifunctional and can be equipped with a wide selection of engines. The inboard options make swimming much easier while the outboards are ideal for fishing expeditions and the like. We also offer a Veloce model with top speeds up to 53 knots.
The VQ40 comes as standard with 2x 225 hp Mercury Verado outboards, giving a top speed of 35 knots. The standard inboard propulsion set up is twin 320 hp Volvo D4 diesels with DPI Drives. Regardless of which installation you choose, once you take your place in the co-pilot seats you will truly feel the power.
Comfort matters
The layout of the VQ40 revolves around a wealth of space, with seats and loungers for 14 people and plenty of room to walk around safely and comfortably. In addition, the boat is fitted with a transparent T-Top that lets in air but not heat. There are lounge areas fore and aft, each furnished with extremely comfortable and high-quality cushions. Behind the driver and co-pilot seats is a smart outdoor-galley area, complete with an electric grill, Corian countertop, sinks, hot & cold water, wine cooler/fridge and various storage lockers. Below decks is a double bed, shower and toilet.
